The fielding team will only get to bat if they can record 3 outs. An out is when the fielders either catch the ball before it hits the ground, throw the ball to first base before the batter gets there, tagging the runner when you have the ball, or striking out the batter. To strikeout a batter the pitcher must throw 3 strikes which are called by an umpire. There are 9 positions in baseball the Pitcher, the one who throws to the batter. The Catcher, he is the one who receives the pitches thrown by the pitcher. First Base he is the person who stands on first base and catches the ball to record an out. Second Base, he stands in between first and second but closer to second base, he tries to record outs. Shortstop, he stands in between second and third but closer to second, he tries to record outs. Third Base, he stands next to third base and tries to record outs. Finally there are the 3 outfield positions, Left Field, Center Field, and Right Field, they all try to record outs by catching or throwing them out.

You can get hit by a pitch which results in getting a walk. You can hit a single which is when you get a hit and run to first base. A double which is when you get a hit and run to first and then second. A triple which is when you get a hit and run to first, second, and then third before the defense can throw you out. You can get a run by hitting a homerun which is when you hit the ball over the fence.
A season in baseball is 162 games. There are 2 leagues, the National League, and American League. Each league has 3 divisions. NL or AL West, NL or AL Central, and NL or AL East. Each division has 5 teams which is a total of 30 teams in the MLB. The playoffs are determined by the amount of wins you have in a season. The team that wins the division gets to go to the playoffs along with the next 2 teams with the the most wins. There is a Wildcard game, NLDS (National League Division Series, ALDS (American League Division Series),NLCS (National League Championship Series), ALCS (American League Championship Series), and the World Series. The winner of all of the World Series is crowned the champions.
